Communism and communist revolutions in the 20th century

Paper details
This assignment is about communism and communist revolutions in the 20th century. Using the textbook and the assigned documents and visual sources in chapter 21, you need to determine whether the Stalin and Mao regimes could be considered Marxist. In other words, would Marx recognize Stalin’s USSR and Mao’s China as practicing the ideas contained in the Communist Manifesto (see chapter 17 for excerpt from Marx’s Communist Manifesto)? To write this paper, you will need to display an understanding of the core Marxist principles (as reflected in Marx’s Communist Manifesto), understand the fundamentals of both Stalinism and Maoism, and connect theory and practice in a historical context.
This paper is due on Friday, November 21 at 12:40 p.m., uploaded to Blackboard and delivered in hard copy form to class. It must be at least 1000 words, but you may write more if you wish. Papers must be typed, double-spaced, with one inch margins all around and use Times New Roman 12 point font. You must use citations which conform to Chicago Manual of Style–see the History Department Citation Guide for help.
